# agent.update()

> Public low-code contract, signatures and examples for agent.update.

## `agent.update()`

Updates mutable agent fields such as config, policy, or profile.

Notes:

* Unavailable with `readOnly: true` (throws an error).

### Signature

static update(agentId: string, data: AgentUpdateInput): Promise<Agent>;
```

### Example

```ts theme={null}
const updated = await agent.update(agentId, {
  desc: 'Handles operational runbooks.',
});
