# api.currentUser()

> Public low-code contract, signatures and examples for api.currentUser.

## `api.currentUser()`

Returns the business current user synchronously. Saved Endpoints default to
the invoking user, including end users without platform access. The instance
or Endpoint currentUser policy can select EXECUTION\_ACCOUNT instead.
Jobs return their captured execution account. Permission checks follow the
saved execution policy independently of this presentation setting.
`avatar` is the Storage entry ID, not a signed download URL.
