# util.timingSafeEqual()

> Public low-code contract, signatures and examples for util.timingSafeEqual.

## `util.timingSafeEqual()`

Synchronous timing-safe comparison. Each input: at most 65536 bytes (UTF-8 for strings).

Invalid types/options throw TypeError; size/range throws RangeError.

### Signature

static timingSafeEqual(a: string | Buffer, b: string | Buffer): boolean;
```

### Example

```ts theme={null}
const match = util.timingSafeEqual(a, b);
```
