# Events: the on map

> Find which interaction each cell emits and what its action can read.

`on` maps a supported event name to **one action object**. Event names are case-sensitive. A cell does not emit every event listed in the shared contract.

| Event | Emitted by | Data available to the action |
| - | - | - |
| `click` | BUTTON, clickable TEXT, TABLE toolbar button | `sourceId`, `type`; a toolbar action uses the TABLE as its source. |
| `change` | Standalone INPUT when its value commits | `value`, `sourceId`, `type`; the new value is also in committed input state. |
| `submit` | FORM | Its fields have been committed together; read them with input bindings. |
| `rowClick` | TABLE row | `row`; read `row.<field>`. |
| `pointClick` | CHART point | `datum`; read `datum.<field>`. |
| `selectionChange` | Selectable TABLE | Read current keys with a selection binding. |

## Minimal event mapping

This fragment belongs to a BUTTON in a view that contains a `summary` cell:

```js theme={null}
const button = {
  id: 'reload',
  type: 'BUTTON',
  label: 'Reload',
  on: {
    click: { type: 'REFRESH', target: 'summary' },
  },
};
```

Choose one of [REFRESH, OPEN\_WIDGET, EXECUTE or BACK](https://docs.revoengine.com/widgets/actions.md). Do not supply functions, event-handler strings or an array of actions.

## Selection is separate from opening

A TABLE checkbox updates selection. Clicking its row may open a detail view. Use `selectionChange` for work driven by selected keys and `rowClick` for a single-record action. Read selected keys from `selection`, not from an assumed `event.keys` property.

For ordered command buttons, see [queued refresh](https://docs.revoengine.com/widgets/refresh.md#ordered-commands). For form writes, see [execute and confirmation](https://docs.revoengine.com/widgets/execute.md).
