An operator view needs a bounded, understandable answer. Choose a limit before loading data and tell the reader when that limit can omit records.

Explore the behavior

Make the dataset boundary visible

For an orders widget that reads a bounded page, display Latest 20 matching orders. Provide a paginated view or a separate export action when an operator needs every match. In a batch processor, use each returned cursor to request the next page before declaring the scan complete. “Latest 100 runs” is different from “All runs today.” If a query cap can omit records, avoid displaying the count as a complete business total. Include the filter, time window, timezone and completeness in the UI. Server pagination and browser filtering have different purposes. A Custom Widget TABLE filters the returned data; it does not automatically fetch missing pages. A full export should use the export contract and wait for its completion.

Keep memory bounded

Select only necessary fields. Process file or database pages incrementally and retain only the state needed for the result. A loop over a single giant in-memory array does not reduce the cost of loading that array. Use Database iteration, exports, HTTP-to-Storage streaming and partial widget refresh.
